| Delhi Government signs MoU with QCI for comprehensive consultancy services and technical support to prepare government hospitals for accreditation as per NABH standards |
| In a significant move that is certain to have far-reaching implications, the Delhi Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Quality Council of India to improve the Quality of the health services provided by government hospitals. The move is basically aimed to make all hospitals and medical institutions under the government attain the Quality standards specified by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) for accreditation within three years. |

The question is what are the NABH standards? And how do they compare with the Joint Commision International standards.
Should India have an independent Healthcare Quality Body along the lines of the JC. Or is it ok to have it as a subsidary of the Quality council (perhaps that enables more inter-sectoral learning and partnerships).
